When you foster, you agree to take a homeless pet into your home and give them safe shelter, love, care, socialization and basic training until the pet is adopted.
- We utilize fosters to provide rescue animals with a comforting home environment.
- ARF pays for all medical care that the foster animal may need.
- ARF will provide everything you need to care for your foster pet (crate, food, toys etc.).
- Fosters enable us to learn more about the pet, helping us place them in the right home.
- Many foster parents work full-time and have other pets.
- Fosters transport the pet to/from adoption events on the weekends. (No need to stay)
- Fosters transport the pet to/from vet appointments as needed.
- You can choose the type of pet you’d like to foster – i.e. puppy, cat, small dog, senior etc.
- Fosters allow rescues to save more lives.
- You can foster for as long as you like.
What are the benefits of fostering?
- You get to enjoy the companionship of a pet without a lifetime commitment.
- Fostering is a great way to ‘try out’ being a pet owner to see if it works for you.
- Fostering-to-adopt is a great way to find the perfect companion for an existing pet.
- Fostering can help teach children about compassion, responsibility & community service.
- It can save 2 lives; the foster and the pet that will get that place at the shelter.
- It is probably one of the most rewarding experiences you will ever have.
- It’s something a family can do together while creating memories that will last a lifetime.
- You may fall in love. Families often adopt their foster animal.
- You will literally save a life.
- It’s fun!
